PHF overhauls leadership with new governance, management committees

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced the formation of new Governance, Management and Professional Development Committees as directed by the ad hoc Presidentof the federation, signalling a major structural reform in the administration and technical management of the sport.

Under the new structure, sports‑related and administrative matters will be handled by separate committees to improve efficiency and accountability.

A Professional Development Committee has been established under the joint chairmanship of former Olympians Hassan Sardar and Islahuddin, the PHF said in a statement.

The committee will be tasked with selecting the national hockey team, overseeing specialised training programs, and setting stringent and transparent standards for both coaches and players.

In addition, a Professional Advisory Committee, chaired by Hassan Sardar and Islahuddin, will work to formulate a long‑term administrative framework for the federation.

According to the PHF spokesperson, other members of the Professional Development Committee will be appointed through mutual consultation, with merit and experience taking priority.

The separation of the technical department from administrative functions is aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness.

Meanwhile, the newly formed Governance Committee has been entrusted with key administrative responsibilities. Farrukh Atiq has been assigned human resources and finance, Shakeel Shah will oversee departmental coordination and outreach, and Aamir Ibrahim will manage business and promotional activities.

The committee will also include Ghulam Ali Mallah, who will focus on promoting hockey at school and college levels, and Brigadier (retd) Akmal Aziz, responsible for institutional coordination.
