PIA to suspend flights to Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Gulf countries

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Monday has announced to suspend its flights to Beijing and Kuala Lumpur from April 11, Saturday. In addition, flights to the Gulf countries will also be suspended until the end of April, and the flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been limited to 16 weekly flights.

According to the reports, a high level meeting was held at PIA in which a plan was drawn up to address the rising prices and potential losses in the organisation.

Flight status PIA

In the meeting, the PIA decided in principle to end all discounts; only children and newborns will receive discounts.

According to the spokesperson, PIA is also suspending its Beijing and Kuala Lumpur operations from April 11 and 14, respectively.

Flights to the Gulf countries, other than the UAE and Saudi Arabia, are also being suspended until the end of April, while the UAE air operations are being limited to 16 weekly flights.

PIA flight disruption

According to the PIA spokesperson, the PIA administration has made the decision in the context of the fourth increase in expensive jet fuel.

The entire burden of fuel prices cannot be put on the passengers, so some strict administrative decisions have been taken.

When the prices at the international level return to normal levels, all affected routes are expected to be restored.

Cargo shipment

Meanwhile, under the government’s austerity campaign, PIA has issued a new circular in which it has been stated that the war situation in the Middle East and the sharp increase in aircraft fuel prices have led to a financial crisis for PIA.

It has been decided to impose war risk charges on cargo shipments on PIA flights.

In the circular, the PIA administration has said that one engine should be used while taxiing the planes to the runway, and the food should be loaded keeping in mind the passengers for domestic flights and Saudi Arabia flight operations.
