PIA to resume direct London flights

PIA to resume direct London flights

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume direct flights to London from March 29, 2026, after a six year pause, according to reports on Wednesday.

According to a PIA statement, the airline will operate four weekly non stop flights from Islamabad and Lahore to London. The airline said the flights will offer faster and smoother travel for passengers.

A PIA spokesperson said the flights from Islamabad will land at Heathrow Airport Terminal 4. He said this step marks the full resumption of services to London after a long gap.

The spokesperson added that London was PIA’s first international destination and remains one of its most important routes. The airline will use Boeing 777 aircraft for these flights.

Before the 2020 ban, PIA was operating 10 weekly flights to London.

The United Kingdom had imposed a flight ban on PIA in July 2020 after concerns raised by then aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan about the credentials of the airline’s pilots.

PIA partially restored its UK operations on October 25, 2025. UK authorities welcomed the move and said the restored service would make travel easier for the Pakistani community living in the UK.

Earlier, PIA also announced a partnership with rail networks in Canada and the United Kingdom. This allows passengers to travel by air and train on a single ticket.

Under this Air to Rail service, passengers flying to Toronto can continue their journey by train to eight major cities in Canada without buying a separate ticket.

PIA halts flight

In view of the security situation in the Gulf countries, the Pakistan International Airlines has suspended its flights to Fujairah for the next 48 hours.

This decision was a precautionary measure, according to the spokesperson, taken due to extraordinary current circumstances.

Flights to Al Ain, however, will continue as normal, as stated by the PIA. Only on this route will the operations to the United Arab Emirates be carried out.
