Pink Themed Pakistan Jersey vs South Africa: Here’s Why

Pakistan will don specially designed pink themed jerseys in the first T20i against South Africa on 28 October in Rawalpindi.

This initiative is a part of the PCB’s #PINKtober campaign to raise breast cancer awareness.

South African team and match officials will wear pink ribbons. Similarly, officials, support staff and commentators will also wear ribbons to show solidarity with the cause.

PCB CEO Sumair Ahmed Syed said the board is using the reach of cricket to highlight the importance of early detection and regular screening, adding that collective action can save lives.

Moreover, the match stumps will be branded pink and awareness messages will run on digital screens in the stadium.

This is the first time the PCB has staged a Pink Day initiative in an international fixture.

But similar initiatives have been held in the Pakistan Super League.

The board has thanked both teams, broadcasters and fans for supporting the campaign and encouraged communities to learn and act.
