A Delta Air Lines aircraft and an Air Canada plane collided while taxiing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), with no injuries or casualties reported.
According to foreign media reports, the wingtip of the Delta aircraft struck the rear section of the Air Canada plane as the Delta flight was taxiing for departure. Air Canada said the incident occurred shortly after its aircraft arrived from Toronto, while the Delta flight was preparing to depart for Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.
Images from the scene showed part of the Delta aircraft’s wing lodged in the stabiliser, or tail section, of the Air Canada plane. A section of the Delta wing broke off during the collision and became embedded in the other aircraft. The Delta flight was carrying 275 passengers and 15 crew members. It was not immediately clear whether passengers were still aboard the Air Canada aircraft when the collision occurred.
