ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has embraced Field Marshal (FM) Syed Asim Munir on taking charge as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).
In a post on his X handle, he said as the sentry of our nation’s security, his leadership has been central. He guided our brave Armed Forces to a decisive victory in the Battle for Truth.
Shehbaz said the people of Pakistan will always recall his bold and courageous leadership in war time that unified the Armed Forces.
Minister of Defence of Pakistan, Khawaja Asif, also praised the decision regarding the appointment of Field Marshall.
PM Sharif also honored Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu on the extension of his tenure.
He said under his exemplary command, Pakistan Air Force wrecked seven enemy’s aircraft and sophisticated missile defence systems.
With supreme competence and under his surveillance Pakistan Air Force reinforced our air superiority.
He noted that all national institutions stand united for the defence, growth and prosperity of Pakistan. He also added that together, we will make our country’s defence truly invincible.
The Prime Minister’s statement comes at a pivotal juncture in Pakistan’s defense and military establishment. It signaled a major structural reform and a focus on consolidated security leadership.
The elevation of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as the country’s first-ever Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) is a historic development, creating a new, integrated command structure.
Current action will enhance coordination and synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
