PM Shahbaz stresses Gulf embassies readiness amid regional tensions

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday directed Pakistani embassies in the Gulf countries to remain fully prepared and available at all times to assist Pakistani citizens in view of the prevailing situation in the region.

While chairing a meeting on the evacuation of Pakistanis from Iran and issues related to Pakistanis residing in Gulf countries, the Prime Minister thanked the brotherly country of Azerbaijan for its cooperation in the evacuation process.

During the meeting, participants were briefed on the current status of the evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iran. The Prime Minister was informed that, by the grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistani citizens are returning home safely from Iran, and the Pakistani Embassy in Azerbaijan is fully mobilised to facilitate this process.

The meeting was also informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is continuously monitoring the entire situation on the instructions of the Prime Minister.

Furthermore, a briefing was given on the steps taken by Pakistani embassies to facilitate Pakistani citizens residing in Gulf countries.

In addition, another meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss issues related to National Food Security and Research. The Prime Minister said that the agriculture and food security sectors are important pillars of the country’s economy.

He directed that the consultation process with the provincial governments, as well as the governments of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, regarding the Agriculture Roadmap should be made more effective.
