PM Sharif Offers Flood Aid to Malaysia

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with his Malaysian equivalent, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, on Friday.

He expressed sincere condolences and offered all possible assistance following the devastating cyclone-induced floods that had recently wrecked parts of Malaysia.

The Prime Minister conveyed the deepest condolences on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan.

And offered sympathy over the tragic loss of precious lives and extensive damage to property caused by the heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides.

Prime Minister Sharif prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and the displaced.

He reaffirmed that the people of Pakistan stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their Malaysian brothers and sisters in this difficult time.

He told Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim that Pakistan fully supports the ongoing relief.

Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has already been directed to coordinate the dispatch.

This comprises essential supplies, which are expected to include tents, blankets, and other relief goods.

In his Thanksgiving statement, the Malaysian Prime Minister acknowledged PM Shahbaz Sharif for his kind and thoughtful call.

He emphasised that the gesture reflects the close and brotherly relations between the two nations.

The leaders also expressed satisfaction over the positive track of bilateral relations and agreed to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges in the coming year.

The disaster has affected tens of thousands of people across several Malaysian states, making international support crucial for the immediate relief efforts.

Having faced its own climate-driven catastrophes, Pakistan’s swift response underscores a shared regional vulnerability. And a deep commitment to mutual support during times of crisis.
