Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif is likely to visit Iran for the funeral of martyred Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi are also expected to attend the funeral.
Earlier, Iran said that the late supreme leader would be buried in his hometown of Mashhad on July 9.
The burial will follow three days of funeral ceremonies in Tehran from July 4 and another in the holy city of Qom on July 7.
In February, Khamenei was killed in a joint US-Israeli air strike.
Pakistan was among the first countries to extend sympathy and express solidarity with Iran following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s martyrdom.
The funeral is expected to be one of the largest public gatherings the country has seen in recent years.
According to Iranian media, total attendance across ceremonies in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad could range between 18 and 35 million people. Some local authorities have also projected that between 15 and 20 million people may attend events in Tehran, while Mashhad could host between 8 and 10 million participants.
Police, emergency services, and public agencies have implemented broad measures to manage transportation and ensure security. Official estimates indicate that Tehran alone could receive nearly two million incoming vehicles.
