The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured full solidarity and support from Pakistan with Qatar and other friendly countries during this difficult time.
He expressed this during a telephonic conversation with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
During the discussion, he exchanged Eid ul Fitr greetings and discussed the current situation in the region.
The Prime Minister conveyed his heartfelt Eid ul Fitr greetings to the Emir, while Sheikh Tamim also extended his best wishes to Pakistan.
During the conversation, the Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in the region and strongly condemned the attacks against Qatar and other brotherly Gulf countries.
He expressed grief over the loss of precious human lives and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
He also appreciated Qatar’s remarkable restraint in the current situation and briefed the Emir on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and peace efforts, emphasising that Pakistan has consistently urged all parties to de-escalate tensions and resolve their differences through dialogue and diplomacy.
Qatar’s Emir appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for regional peace. The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact in the coming days.
On the other hand, a high-level meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s House, Islamabad, on Wednesday, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in which the provision of food items to the Gulf countries and Pakistan’s ports and maritime operations were reviewed in the context of the current regional situation.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the strategy prepared for the provision of food items to the Gulf countries and the progress made so far and appreciated the performance of the relevant departments and officers.
The Prime Minister directed that all relevant departments should remain in close contact for the food needs of the Gulf countries.
