Pakistan, Turkey to strengthen ties as Shehbaz, Erdogan agree on close contact

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to remain in close contact for mutual benefit and regional cooperation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which both leaders exchanged Eid greetings.

According to the statement, the two leaders also prayed for peace, unity and prosperity for the Muslim Ummah.

The Prime Minister reiterated his condemnation of rising tensions in the region, particularly the missile attacks on Turkey.

He expressed that the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with their Turkish brothers and sisters during these challenging times.

The statement further noted that both leaders agreed that the resolution of tensions can only be achieved through dialogue and diplomacy.

In addition, the two leaders discussed the situation in Afghanistan. The Prime Minister acknowledged Turkey’s role in facilitating the temporary ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close contact for mutual benefit and enhanced regional cooperation.

PM Shahbaz congratulates Jordan’s King Abdullah II

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan, during which he congratulated the King and the people of Jordan on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr.

King Abdullah II also extended his Eid greetings to Shahbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan.

During the call, both leaders emphasised the need for peace and harmony within the Muslim Ummah. They also discussed the current situation in the Middle East. The Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the ongoing tensions and incidents in the region and strongly condemned the attacks on Jordan.

Shahbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Jordan during this difficult time and stressed the importance of reducing tensions through diplomatic means. He also recalled King Abdullah II’s visit to Pakistan last November.
