Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday visited the residence of Lt Col Shahzada Gul Faraz Shaheed in Mansehra, who was martyred while leading an operation against Fitna al Khawarij terrorists to offer condolences to his family.
According to Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) the prime minister met the mother, wife, and children of the martyred Lt Col Gul Faraz and prayed for strength and patience for them to bear the loss.
He also visited the grave of the martyred officer, offered Fateha, and prayed for the elevation of his ranks in Jannah.
“Lt Col Shahzada Gul Faraz Shaheed sacrificed his life while safeguarding the country,” the prime minister said, adding that Shaheed Gul Faraz set an example of bravery and courage.
He said the entire nation, including himself, was proud of the martyrs and their families, adding that Pakistan could never forget their sacrifices.
The prime minister assured the bereaved family of the government’s and the Pakistan Army’s full support.
On the occasion, he also announced the establishment of a Daanish School in Mansehra in the name of Lt Col Shahzada Gul Faraz.
Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar, Engineer Amir Muqam and Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, and Shah Ji Gul Afridi were also present on the occasion.
On 21 February Lt Col Sahibzada Gul Faraz, embraced martyrdom in a cowardly attack in Bannu carried out by Indian sponsered Fitna Al Khawarij.
Security Forces convoy was targeted by Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij in Bannu District while an intelligence-based operation was being conducted on the reported presence of Khwarij including a suicide bomber.
A vehicle borne suicide bomber was intercepted by the leading group, foiling his nefarious design to target innocent civilians/ Law enforcement personnel in Bannu City, averting major catastrophe.
During the conduct of operation, khwarij were located and after intense fire exchange, five khwarij were sent to hell by the security forces. However, in desperation, Khwarij rammed the explosive laden vehicle into one of the vehicles of the leading group.
Resultantly, Lt Colonel Sahibzada Gul Faraz (age: 43 years, resident of District Manshera), a brave commanding officer renowned for his daring actions, who was leading his troops from the front embraced shahadat alongwith Sepoy Karamat Shah (age: 28 years, resident of District Peshawar).
