The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday forecast cloudy weather with intermittent rain, gusty winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall over hilly areas in several parts of the country during the next 24 hours.
According to the PMD, rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over hills, is likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, northeast Punjab, and northeast Balochistan. The department warned that isolated areas of Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may receive heavy rain along with moderate to heavy snowfall, while cold and dry weather will prevail in most other regions.
The PMD cautioned that snowfall may lead to road closures and slippery conditions in mountainous areas, including Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galliyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, and Poonch from January 26 to 27. It also warned of possible landslides and avalanches in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, advising tourists to avoid unnecessary travel.
In Islamabad, cloudy weather with intermittent rain and thunderstorms is expected. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience widespread rain with snowfall over hills, while Punjab is likely to receive rain and thunderstorms in several cities, with snowfall in Murree and Galliyat. Sindh will remain cold and dry, while parts of Balochistan may receive isolated rain and snowfall.
