The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted widespread rainfall, windstorms, and thunderstorms in many parts of the country over the next 24 hours, with isolated heavy downpours and hailstorms expected in several regions.
The recent weather forecast indicated that Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would receive rainfall with fiery winds and thunderstorms. Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, on the other hand, are likely to experience scattered rain and thunderstorms with potential hailstorms, mostly in the evening and night time.
The Met Office has cautioned that there will be heavy rain, which is likely to cause flash floods in the northeastern parts of Balochistan, such as Zhob, Musakhel, and Dera Bugti. Dera Ghazi Khan is also expected to receive heavy torrents, and the local streams in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa might overflow because of heavy rainfall.
The authorities have warned that the powerful wind, lightning and hailstorms can destroy some of the structures that are vulnerable, like electricity poles, billboards and solar panels. Severe weather conditions might also have an adverse effect on standing crops in Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Partly cloudy weather is predicted in Islamabad, with a 30 per cent probability of rain and thunderstorms in the evening or night.
In the region, the southern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would witness extensive rain and thunderstorms, isolated heavy showers and hailstorms, whereas the northern parts might receive rainfall and snowfall on higher mountains.
Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan districts of the Southern Punjab are expected to receive a lot of rain, but the cities of Lahore and Rawalpindi are likely to experience isolated thunderstorms and intense winds.
Sindh is also supposed to have occasional extensive rain and thunderstorms in the large cities, such as Karachi and Hyderabad, and there is a possibility of heavy rainfall and hailstorms in the south.
There is also a forecast of cloudy weather with single rain and thunderstorms in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, and the snowfall in the mountainous areas in the evening and night hours.
