The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued a notification fixing the tuition fees for MBBS and BDS programs in private medical and dental colleges.
For students of the 2023–2024 session the annual tuition fee has been set at Rs 1.8 million while for the 2025–2026 session the fee has been fixed at Rs 1.89 million.
According to the notification medical and dental colleges will not be allowed to increase fees arbitrarily.
Any violation will result in strict action by the authorities.
Future increases in fees will only be permitted in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
The decision has been implemented following the recommendations of a committee formed on the directions of the Prime Minister.
PMDC clarified that private medical and dental colleges must strictly comply with the prescribed fee limits.
The new fee structure will also apply to all currently enrolled students, with an annual increase capped at 5 percent.
New MDCAT Rules Announced
Previously, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had revised the MDCAT examination criteria and schedule for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026 academic session.
As per the new criteria, candidates must now secure at least 65 per cent marks in FSc (Pre-Medical) or an equivalent qualification to qualify for the test, up from the previous 60 per cent requirement.
Additionally, applicants must now hold matriculation, intermediate and domicile certificates from the same province where they intend to take the MDCAT.
This step aims to reduce administrative complications and ensure fairness in seat allocation and monitoring.
The revised MDCAT syllabus will cover Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning. It will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions with no negative marking.
PMDC has directed all exam papers to be prepared under a standardised national framework using a centralised question bank to maintain transparency.
The MDCAT is mandatory for admission to medical and dental colleges in Pakistan.
