The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has directed medical and dental colleges across the country to ensure the mandatory registration of every admitted student.
The council has also decided to impose heavy fines and strict penalties for violations of these regulations, according to the official notifications.
Institutions fail to register student to face fine of Rs 50,000
It stated that all public and private colleges have been instructed to ensure the timely registration of every admitted student. Institutions that fail to register a student within the stipulated time will face a fine of Rs 50,000 per student.
The PMDC further stated that if a college admits students beyond its allocated seats, the institution will be required to pay one hundred per cent of the tuition fee for each excess student.
Additionally, full fees will also be charged for any irregular admissions. Institutions violating these rules may also face a reduction in their seat allocation for the following year.
The notification also states that a fine of Rs 75,000 per student will be imposed for the late submission of graduation reports, and a fine of Rs 30,000 per student for the delayed reporting of annual examination results.
According to the PMDC, a fine of Rs 500,000, plus an additional penalty of Rs 50,000 per day, will be imposed for delays in issuing merit and admission lists. Institutions that violate these rules three times will be placed on the PMDC grey list.
