Popo Football Club Islamabad is set to begin football trials this week under the supervision of A-Class coaches, offering young players an opportunity to showcase their talent and pursue a career in the sport. Held under the slogan “Say No to Drugs, Embrace Sports,” the trials aim to promote sports among youth while providing talented footballers with a platform to develop their skills and build a brighter future.
MPA Raja Shaukat Bhatti, renowned pathologist Dr Jamal Nasir and Chaudhry Imtiaz will attend the trials as special guests. Speaking to the media, Popo Football Club Chief Executive Haris Bin Haroon said that every year, a large number of young footballers from across the country, including all four provinces, participate in the club’s annual trials.
He said players who are selected through the trials are provided with free accommodation, meals and gym facilities by the club administration. According to Haris Bin Haroon, selected players also receive three hours of intensive daily training under the supervision of A-Class professional football coaches.
Following the training, they get opportunities to participate in various football tournaments both domestically and internationally. He said the free trials are primarily aimed at selecting young players between the ages of 15 and 18. Players above this age can also participate in trials in their respective age categories.
