Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division), Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, has directed authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Sehr and Iftar throughout the holy month of Ramzan 2026.
The Power Division has issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) to all electricity distribution companies, including K-Electric.
The minister has instructed them to prioritise power supply during the Sehar and Iftar hours when people prepare for fasting and break their fast.
Under the new directives, no load shedding will take place during Sehr and Iftar, even in areas that typically face high electricity losses.
Adjustments in high-loss areas
Officials said that load management in high-loss areas will instead be shifted to other times of the day during Ramazan.
The government has been running an anti-power theft campaign in several parts of the country.
According to the Power Division, special instructions have been issued to continue action in such areas, while making sure that supply remains uninterrupted at key times.
The ministry said the aim is to balance relief for consumers with efforts to control system losses and prevent a rise in unpaid electricity bills.
Control rooms, complaint handling
Mr Leghari has also directed all Distribution Companies (DISCOs) to respond promptly to consumer complaints.
Chief executive officers of the companies have been instructed to set up dedicated control rooms to monitor electricity supply and coordinate responses to any disruptions.
Authorities have also been told to avoid unannounced outages during Ramazan to minimise inconvenience.
The measures come as demand for electricity typically changes during the fasting month, with higher consumption around Sehr and Iftar.
The government says the new plan is intended to ensure smoother power provision during these peak hours while maintaining financial discipline in the power sector.
