PSL 11: Hyderabad owner shares major updates on team name, logo, captaincy

Ahead of the much awaited 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Hyderabad franchise owner Fawad Sarwar has shared important updates regarding the team’s identity and leadership plans.

In a recent interview, Fawad Sarwar confirmed that the team’s name and logo have already been finalised.

He also said that their official launch will take place around the PSL Player Auction on February 11.

Speaking about the selection of the Hyderabad team captain for PSL 11, Sarwar made it clear that leadership will not be awarded automatically on the basis of seniority or fame.

The owner of the newly introduced PSL franchise Hyderabad, Fawad Sarwar, has shared key details regarding the team’s name, logo and captaincy ahead of PSL 11.

Further, he added that no player, whether Pakistani or foreign, will be given the captaincy just because of being a big name or a senior player.

“We have our own selection process, and the decision will be taken after full consultation,” he said.

He further added, “The captain can be anyone. The most important thing is good leadership. Whoever meets that criteria will be given the responsibility.”

Sarwar also expressed his admiration for former Pakistan captain Babar Azam. He called him his favourite cricketer.

He said that if given the opportunity, he would like to include Babar Azam in his team. Sarwar added that every franchise would want a player of his calibre.

However, he said no final decisions have been made yet. Adding that the franchise will wait to see which players are retained by their current teams before making selections.

PSL 11: Hyderabad team

The 11th edition of the PSL is scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3.

Earlier, the Hyderabad franchise had announced that former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie would serve as head coach.

Additionally, Grant Bradburn and Craig White have been appointed as assistant coaches.

It is worth mentioning that the number of teams in PSL 11 has been increased to eight.

Hyderabad and Sialkot are joining the league as new franchises this season.
