Most expensive PSL franchise auction doubles PCB earnings

Most expensive PSL franchise auction doubles PCB earnings

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has seen a major financial boost after the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises were sold in its most expensive auction ever. The boost has doubled the league’s total revenue.

Under the new deals, the PCB will receive an extra Rs3.6 billion in franchise fees.

This brings total PSL revenue to over Rs7 billion.

This is a significant increase from previous years and a sign of the league’s growing commercial appeal.

PCB annual earnings

The PCB will now earn Rs6.22 billion annually from franchise fees alone, according to the reports.

Lahore Qalandars will continue to pay the highest fee of Rs670 million per year.

Followed by Karachi Kings at Rs640 million.

Peshawar Zalmi will contribute Rs490 million annually.

Islamabad United’s fee is Rs480 million per year.

Quetta Gladiators will pay Rs340 million per year under the new arrangement.

The Multan Sultans franchise is not included in this auction cycle and is scheduled to be auctioned next year.

Once that is completed, PSL revenue is expected to rise further above Rs7 billion, according to reports.

The increase in franchise fees shows the Pakistan Super League’s growing commercial value and interest from investors and sponsors.

Hyderabad in PSL: Niaz Stadium upgradation

The Niaz Stadium will receive priority renovations and upgrades.

This follows confirmation that FKS has bought a PSL franchise based in Hyderabad.

The city will become the second PSL hub in Sindh after Karachi. This marks an important step in the league’s expansion.

Officials said FKS purchased the Hyderabad team for Rs175 crore in the PSL auction held in Islamabad.

With Hyderabad joining the PSL map, focus has turned to upgrading Niaz Stadium to host high-profile T20 matches.
