PSL auction workshop

An HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) auction workshop was recently conducted on Sunday at Gaddafi Stadium bringing together all the key stakeholders in advance of the upcoming season.

The session was a comprehensive briefing on the process of the auction for the players and also gave franchises an opportunity for direct interaction with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stressed that all franchises would get a level playing field in auction, reinforcing the board’s commitment to the game’s transparency and fairness in player selection.

PSL CEO Salman Naseer gave a detailed presentation of the auction framework including procedures, timelines and regulations.

There were suggestions and feedback exchanged between franchise officials and players to create a cooperative atmosphere in refining the auction process.

Senior PCB officials, such as the Chief Financial Officer and Directors of International Cricket were also in attendance highlighting the importance of the board’s commitment to a smooth and competitive auction.

Auction categories and expansion of the league

This season, the player categories are still structured to ensure a balanced draft. Top Tier Stars come under the Platinum category, followed by Diamond for high-value players, Gold for mid-range talent, in addition there is Silver for experienced squad players, Emerging for up and coming local talent and finally Supplementary for backup or replacement players.

Fans are particularly excited because PSL 11 will grow from six to eight teams, thereby presenting more opportunity for emerging talent to showcase themselves on a national stage.

One of the new teams to be part of PSL 11 has unveiled its official name. The Sialkot team will be called “Sialkot Stallionz” co-owner Kamil Khan announced on his social media.

The name is a tribute to an old 2000s domestic side, Sialkot Stallions, which was renowned for their star-studded team.
