PSX falls in early trade as selling pressure weighs on market

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened Thursday’s session in negative territory, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index facing clear selling pressure during the first half of trading.

The PSX started the day sharply lower and by around 9:39am the KSE-100 Index had dropped 1,033.83 points to 182,015, with trading volume recorded at 12.55 million shares. Some buying interest appeared shortly after, helping the index recover part of its losses.

By about 9:59am, the index had narrowed its decline to around 300 points, standing at 182,749.26, while volume increased to 38.13 million shares.

However, the recovery did not last long. Fresh selling pushed the market deeper into the red, and by roughly 11:24am the index had fallen 2,175.7 points to 180,874.1, as volume rose sharply to 115.59 million shares.

Pakistan Stock Exchange decline

By 12:04pm on February 12, 2026, the KSE-100 Index was recorded at 181,740.72, showing a decline of 1,309.08 points, or 0.72 percent, with total traded volume reaching 164.73 million shares.

Despite the intraday drop, the broader trend remained positive. On a one year basis, the market was still up 60.94 percent, while the year to date gain stood at 4.42 percent. Over the past 52 weeks, the index has traded between a low of 101,598.91 and a record high of 191,032.73.

Market movers

Among the most actively traded shares, K-Electric was seen at Rs8.22 after falling Rs0.38, while Cnergyico traded at Rs8.01, down Rs0.15. Amtex showed a slight rise to Rs5.34, gaining Rs0.03, and GGL moved up to Rs22.75 with an increase of Rs0.30. EPCL traded at Rs36.45 after a gain of Rs0.16, while PIBTL rose Rs0.48 to Rs19.49. NCPL was among notable gainers, climbing Rs2.93 to Rs80.13, and Power Cement advanced Rs0.90 to Rs21.01. Hascol also moved higher to Rs24.32 with a gain of Rs0.29.

On the gaining side, LSE Clearing led the advancers, surging Rs1.00 to Rs1.83. Kohat Cement rose Rs3.40 to Rs37.35, while EMCO gained Rs5.84 to Rs64.21. AWTX climbed Rs140.96 to Rs1,550.52, and JVDCPS increased Rs8.72 to Rs95.93. Several other stocks, including TCORPCPS, 786, PIAHCLB and STL, also posted strong gains during the session.

On the losing side, GSPM was among the worst performers, falling Rs0.69 to Rs4.40. PAKL dropped Rs4.42 to Rs44.56, while ASLPS declined Rs1.68 to Rs17.32. FASM shed Rs28.72 to Rs301.53 and DIIL lost Rs5.81 to Rs62.51. Other decliners included EWIC, ASIC, SHJS, SHCM and SHSML, all posting notable losses.

Previous session

In the previous trading session on Wednesday, the KSE-100 Index had closed at 183,049.80, gaining 896.25 points or 0.49 percent. The index moved within a range of 1,747.06 points during the day, touching a high of 183,801.70 and a low of 182,054.64, with total traded volume recorded at 350.08 million shares.
