PTA introduces online assistant for consumer complaints

PTA commits to consumer protection amid new mobile tariffs

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced a new digital assistant to guide and facilitate telecom consumers.

According to a PTA statement the digital assistant will be available via WhatsApp on 0315-0055055 where users can receive instant guidance regarding telecommunications services and procedures for lodging complaints.

The system offers menu-based options and provides automated responses to specific commands enabling quick and efficient access to information.

PTA said the initiative aims to enhance consumer convenience, ensure easy access to regulatory information and provide timely responses to queries promoting digital services through modern technology.

PTA reduces tax for imported mobile phones

In another major development the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a decrease on taxes on mobiles imported in the country which would give a relief to the buyers and also will increase the market for used mobile phones.

The Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi had recently issued Valuation Ruling No. 2035 of 2026 with respect to the fixed new value of customs in the commercial import of more than 60 models of used mobile phones.

This move is predicted to make imported smartphones more affordable.

Popular models like the Samsung Galaxy S23 and the phones from Apple, Google and OnePlus are a part of the new valuation list.

Samsung Galaxy S23 which is currently trending in the market will now be available at a cheaper overall cost to the buyers based on importing used devices.

This decrease in PTA tax promotes the import of smartphones of high demand and will give an opportunity to purchase quality smartphones at low prices.

Consumers who are thinking of purchasing used phones from overseas can now avail the benefit of these revised customs values that will help make gadgets more accessible in Pakistan.
