The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned users about fake courier messages being sent by scammers.
In a public advisory, the PTA said scammers often send delivery messages or emails while pretending to represent courier companies.
The messages may ask recipients to click on suspicious links, pay a fee or share their one-time password (OTP).
The PTA advised users not to click on or share such links and to remain cautious when receiving unexpected courier-related messages.
The authority had earlier also warned people against the illegal use of foreign SIM cards and urged them to protect their personal and financial information.
The PTA said buying or selling foreign SIM cards is illegal and their use could create problems for users. Calls and messages made through such SIMs could also put personal and financial information at risk and expose users to legal complications.
The authority advised consumers to buy SIM cards only from nearby franchises or registered outlets and ensure that the SIM is registered in their own name.
