Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has revealed plans to broaden its fiber-optic broadband internet network to reach 10 million households throughout Pakistan, providing them with ultra-high-speed internet.
This objective was communicated by company representatives during a financial briefing, where PTCL detailed its long-term strategy aimed at improving fixed broadband internet in Pakistan.
As per the company, there are approximately 30 million households in Pakistan, and PTCL plans to significantly increase fiber connectivity in response to the rising demand for dependable high-speed internet.
Currently, PTCL offers last-mile broadband access to around 1.7 million households across the country.
The company further stated that ongoing investment in fiber infrastructure will continue to be a main focus to improve coverage and service quality.
PTCL further aims to make wired broadband more accessible, facilitating digital services, remote work, online education, and the increasing consumption of data in urban and semi-urban regions.
PTCL records annual loss for 2025
Earlier, the PTCL Group announced its consolidated annual financial results for the year ending December 31, 2025, continuing its trend of losses.
The group reported a net loss of Rs9.7 billion for the year 2025.
On the other hand, Ufone, the mobile segment of the group, experienced a revenue increase of 14% year-on-year, with its operating profit reaching Rs17.6 billion, which is a remarkable 283% increase compared to 2024.
Nonetheless, PTCL still reported a net loss, although it was significantly reduced by 89%.
