PTCL plans cable maintenance today; expect slower internet speed

PTCL plans cable maintenance

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has announced planned maintenance on one of its submarine cables to repair a faulty repeater, cautioning customers to expect degraded internet service.

The activity is scheduled to begin October 14, 2025, around 11:00 am PST, and could last up to 18 hours, according to a notice posted from the company’s official X account (@PTCLOfficial).

PTCL said performance may be affected during the maintenance window and apologised for the inconvenience.

The company did not specify which routes or regions could experience the most impact, but described the issue as service “degradation,” not a complete outage.

The advisory was published at 7:52 pm on October 13, and had drawn tens of thousands of views and hundreds of interactions by late evening.

Customers are advised to plan around potential slow speeds and intermittent connectivity until work on the faulty repeater is completed and normal service is restored.
