PTCL takes over Telenor Pakistan

Web desk: PTCL has officially taken over the management of Telenor Pakistan after completing the acquisition of 100 per cent shareholding as per an announcement made by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on Wednesday.

“It is to notify that PTCL on December 31, 2025, has acquired 100 per cent of the shareholding of Telenor Pakistan (Private) Limited and Orion Towers (Private) Limited, and shares have been duly transferred in the name of PTCL,” the notice read.

The takeover marks the beginning of a new era of digital and revolutionary change in Pakistan.

The President and CEO of PTCL, Hatem Bamtaraaf, addressed the occasion as Telenor officially became part of PTCL.

This marks an important milestone for both PTCL and Pakistan’s telecom sector. The company has pledged to focus on providing customers with convenient, uninterrupted, and high-quality services.

When the sale was announced on 14 December 2023, Telenor Pakistan was valued at NOK 5.3 billion, excluding cash and debt.

The transaction closing confirms this value (NOK 5.4 billion based on September exchange rates, with final year-end adjustments still to be made).

Since the announcement, Telenor has also received NOK 0.9 billion in cash flow from Telenor Pakistan.
