PTI lawmakers protest on Parliament turns into a flop show

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) staged sit-in and protest outside the Parliament House, Islamabad, has turned into a flop show as only a handful of PTI leaders showed up to protest, according to the reports on Friday.

The lights of the Parliment House have been turned off. Previously, the main gate was also closed.

PTI MNA Shahid Khatak reportedly broke a YouTuber’s camera during a fight at a protest. The YouTuber says the camera was worth Rs200,000.

Red Zone

Due to the protests, the Red Zone has been shut off.

Constitution Avenue

A very important avenue for Islamabad residents for travel has been closed off due to the protests.

NADRA Chowk

The PTI protest in Islamabad has also resulted in the shutdown of the NADRA Chowk.

The Establishment Division gate was opened to allow assembly members to return.

Security has been increased, with a heavy presence of police and rangers outside Parliament House.

KP’s Chief Minister will also join the protest. Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, said they will hold a sit-in outside Parliament but will not block anyone’s way.

Many assembly members were expected to take part. He added that the protest will end immediately if their demands are met.

The protest is about the health of Imran Khan. According to PTI, his health is poor, with reports saying he is now 85 per cent blind in his left eye.

PTI leaders claim Imran Khan is not getting proper medical care and is being kept in solitary confinement.

The sit-in is causing difficulties for people in Islamabad, especially since Fridays already have heavy traffic. PTI’s protest has made travel from work to home even harder.

It is worth noting that most of PTI’s recent protests have failed, according to the reports. Their nationwide protest on February 8 was largely ignored, reports say.

Similar low turnouts were seen at PTI rallies in Karachi and Haripur, showing the party has lost popularity with many people in Pakistan.
