ISLAMABAD: Due to a protest call by the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) all roads leading to Adiala jail have been blocked and security has been placed on high alert in Rawalpindi.
The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, had announced that due to not being allowed to meet Imran Khan, they would protest in front of the Islamabad High Court and then proceed to Adiala Jail.
In view of the security concerns, the roads leading to Adiala Jail are closed. Some schools in the vicinity of Adiala Jail have also closed at their own discretion. The road closures have created problems for the commuters.
Access to Red Zone from Serena has also been closed.
Red Metro has also been suspended from Srinagar Highway to Pak Secretariat.
According to the district administration, police and other law-enforcement agencies have been put on high alert, and all institutions including police will ensure law and order through mutual cooperation.
Section 144 imposed in the federal capital Islamabad and Rawalpindi
According to the district administration of Islamabad, Section 144 is in force in Islamabad, and under Section 144, no kind of protest, gathering, or rally is permitted.
The district administration said that the law will take immediate action against the organization of any illegal activity.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema has also imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi district. The district administration has issued a notification for the enforcement of Section 144, according to which it will remain in effect from December 1 to December 3, and all kinds of gatherings, rallies, and processions will be banned in Rawalpindi.
