PTI Workers Divided Over Protest Call

PTI protest workers confused

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership and workers appear divided over Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s call to gather and march towards the Swabi Interchange in protest.

According to some party workers, participants are expected to assemble at the M1 Peshawar Motorway Interchange and proceed towards the Swabi Interchange. They claim that within the jurisdiction of the Punjab Motorway Interchange, they will block the road as part of the protest.

However, in a surprising contrast, several PTI leaders state that no official protest call has been issued to workers. This conflicting information has left many supporters uncertain about whether a protest will actually take place. Workers say there is no clarity from the leadership regarding the plan.

Sources within PTI said that the top leadership, including Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, several PTI senators, and senior officials, arrived in Islamabad yesterday. They reportedly intend to visit the Islamabad High Court first and then proceed to stage a sit-in outside Adiala Jail.

According to the sources, the protest call may be a pressure tactic to secure permission for a meeting with Imran Khan. If the Punjab government denies permission, workers will then gather to block the roads at the announced locations.

The situation remains unclear, as many leaders claim they do not know the protest schedule. Some have openly opposed the idea of blocking the Motorway, and no one within the leadership appears willing to take ownership of the protest call.
