The district administration and federal police have launched joint efforts to ensure the registration of Bykea and taxi drivers operating in Islamabad, aiming to improve passenger safety and monitoring mechanisms.
DC Islamabad stated that the registration process will now be shifted from the district administration’s application to the Islamabad Police Taxi Verification App, allowing both drivers and passengers to upload required data easily through a centralised digital platform.
Under the new system, registered drivers will be required to display a QR code prominently on their vehicle screens. Citizens will be able to scan the QR code to instantly verify the driver’s identity and registration status, enhancing transparency and security during travel.
Authorities have also made it mandatory for drivers to record details of every passenger and trip, ensuring proper documentation of travel information.
Drivers can download the verification application through the official link provided by Islamabad Police and complete their registration digitally.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon said the initiative is intended to make urban travel safer and fully secure for residents of the capital. He urged citizens to avoid using unregistered bike taxis or cabs and to verify drivers through the QR code system before starting their journey.
Officials believe the new digital verification mechanism will strengthen law enforcement oversight and significantly improve passenger safety standards across Islamabad.
