The Punjab government has announced the launch of a new airline called “Punjab Airlines.” This new project was in the pipeline for a few months, officials from the Punjab government confirmed to a private media outlet.
At the same time, the officials from the Punjab government also said that the government will start the operations of its new airline in April. Initially, the government will start the operations with seven passenger aircraft.
The sources also said that the airline will start only domestic flights for the next two years, and then international routes will be launched.
According to the media reports, the existing Helicopter of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, will be the asset of “Punjab Airlines.” After the launch of the airline, CM Maryam Nawaz will also travel through the same airline.
The government sources also revealed that there will be no specific aircraft for CM Maryam Nawaz.
Provincial ministers will travel through Punjab Airlines
The provincial ministers and other government authorities will also travel through “Punjab Airlines,” the official sources confirmed.
The Punjab government is developing a comprehensive strategy to avoid the additional burden on the provincial treasury.
The airline will operate on profitable basis
The existing and newly added aircraft will be operated entirely on a profitable basis, the sources said.
The media reports also confirmed that CM Maryam Nawaz will also travel with other passengers and will pay the full fare.
The government believes that Punjab Airlines will play an important role in improving air travel facilities and promoting competition in the province.
