Punjab clerks strike pension, government employees strike

The government clerks in Punjab have announced a strike against the amended pension rules.

As per the official notification, the All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) provincial executive body of Punjab has called a peaceful strike/ protest against the amended rules of pension.

A meeting was held in Lahore on April 9, under the chairmanship of the Provincial President of APCA Punjab, Zia Ullah Khan Niazi.

It was decided that a peaceful strike will be called on April 16, 2026.

Punjab clerks pension strike

The clerks all over the Punjab have decided to go on strike to restore their demands regarding amended pension rules.

The strike will be taking place at three venues. The strike schedule is as follows:

  • All divisional presidents in the Punjab are advised to conduct a peaceful protest in front of the Press Club.
  • The President of Lahore Division, Lahore, is advised to make a peaceful protest in front of the Civil Secretariat of Punjab, Lahore.
  • At last, all the districts in the Punjab are advised to fully participate in the strike to be held in front of the Press Club.

The following demands will need to be addressed by the government:

  • Increasing of petroleum rates.
  • 30% disparity reduction allowance.
  • Restoration of leave encashment.
  • Restoration of rule 17-A.
  • Reduction in pension rules.
  • Outsourcing of health sectors/ schools.
  • Final demand is to withdraw the decision of abolishing the vacant posts and the ban on recruitment.

The Rule 17-A allows the government officials to let their children or widow/ wife hold their posts after their death or if declared incapacitated for the job.

While the leave encashment allows the officials to get paid leave monthly or yearly by the concerned department.
