The government of Punjab has launched a special cybercrime unit for protecting women and children.
The unit will be responsible for tracking the online criminals responsible for online harassment, blackmail, and targeting women and children.
The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has directed the authorities to provide every possible facility to entertain the affected women and children.
Cybercrime unit for women, children
The special cybercrime unit established under the initiative of the Punjab CM was established in a meeting held in Lahore.
It was decided to set up the Punjab Police Cyber Patrol Wing and Cyber Police Academy to make sure that justice is served.
While addressing the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said that a strategy should be made against the cybercriminals.
She said that an intelligence system should be developed for monitoring social media crimes.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif stressed that cybercrime is a burning issue right now, which should be taken care of immediately.
She also asked the authorities to protect the young generation and women, while keeping their identities completely confidential.
CM Punjab also ordered to launch a mobile complaint cell, accompanying a virtual police station, to ensure the convenience of the victims.
