On directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Provincial Housing Minister Bilal Yasin completed the digital balloting of 2,000 free residential plots in 19 districts under the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” program.

Following the draw, successful applicants from Jhelum, Kasur and 17 other districts have been provided details of the plots allotted to them, including the plot numbers, sizes and the block locations.

In the first phase, 730 plots were allocated in Jhelum and 388 in Kasur while further allocation was made in Faisalabad, Lodhran, Okara and other districts.

The scheme is aimed to provide ownership rights to deserving and homeless families free of cost. Beneficiaries include labourers, shopkeepers, mechanics and daily wage earners who will now have residential land of their own.

Bilal Yasin said that the Chief Minister soon will hand over official allotment letters to the lucky applicants.

He also announced that the Punjab government will provide interest-free loans to help the families to construct their homes.

These loans will be both repayable in easy monthly instalments with the poor not being burdened by debt.

Authorities emphasised that the plots are absolutely free of any hidden charges.

Ramzan relief and Nigehban Card

Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also approved Rs10,000 relief amount to the families this Ramzan.

Under the Ration Card and Ramzan Nigehban Card scheme, households which meet the eligibility criteria would be allocated Rs10,000 this Ramzan with a monthly subsidy of Rs3,000.

The Ramzan Nigehban Card enables beneficiaries to obtain cash assistance and purchase essential components from designated vendors.

District administrations will be issuing the cards from door to door and 136 activation centres have been established in Punjab.

Cardholders can also activate their cards at Bank of Punjab ATMs or can withdraw the money through the branchless banking agents or the One Link network.
