Free phone charging service in Lahore

WEB DESK: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has, under the initiative of the Punjab Government, launched a free mobile phone charging service in Lahore at various locations. This is done to facilitate the public by keeping in view their convenience and safety.

Reason Behind Installation

The initiative was introduced at the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The charging ports are allocated at various important spots so the public can charge their mobiles, particularly when their phones are dead, in case of an emergency. They can call for help in case of any incident.

According to a spokesperson for the Safe City Authority, these charging points have been installed in the ‘safety zones’ throughout the city.

Facilitation Offered

The charging points offer these four facilities:

  1. Panic button for an immediate Police contact.
  2. Free Wi-Fi to access emergency apps
  3. Wired phone charging ports
  4. Wireless phone charging ports

Till now, the authorities have integrated these emergency charging ports at 30 different positions.

According to the media reports, these points have already started to be utilised by the public, especially in the high-traffic areas where people may lack access to the internet.

The project is part of a wider plan to reinforce urban safety measures.

Moreover, the spokesperson has confirmed that the service will be expanded to 100 locations across the city. This will ensure that help and a way to stay connected are never too far away for residents or visitors.

By providing these tools in a single, accessible spot, the Government aims to make the city’s safety zones more effective and responsive to the daily needs of the public.
