The Punjab Govt Approves Rs2bn for the Counter Terrorism Department (CCD) to strengthen its operations in sensitive districts. The allocation will support the purchase of modern vehicles and the construction of new offices, police stations, and residences across the province.
In the first phase, the government will buy bulletproof and double-cabin vehicles, armored carriers, and high-roof vans. Authorities will deploy these vehicles in sensitive districts marked as high-risk areas.
In the next phase, the government will provide similar vehicles to “B category” districts. Officials expect to allocate more funds for this in the coming months. They stressed that these steps will enhance the mobility and safety of CCD teams in the field.
Survey Begins for New Offices and Police Stations
Alongside the purchase of vehicles, surveys have begun for the construction of CCD offices and police stations. Officials said new buildings are being considered in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Multan. These cities have been marked as priority areas due to their strategic importance.
According to reports, CCD has demanded 40 offices, 38 police stations, and six residential buildings. The estimated cost of construction is around Rs11 billion. This will be in addition to the Rs2 billion already released for vehicles and preliminary infrastructure work.
Police sources said the survey process will help determine the exact locations and requirements for each new facility. Once the survey is complete, detailed reports will be prepared for approval and budgeting.
Strengthening Counterterrorism Operations
