Punjab govt provides relief to Imran Khan

Punjab government has withdrawn its appeals, filed in the Supreme Court, against the bail of PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi.

Punjab government on Wednesday retracted its appeals against the bail of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

The state prosecutor told the court that they have been ordered to withdraw the appeals against the couple. On this the SC dismissed the case on the grounds of their withdrawal.

Cipher appeal case

Meanwhile the Supreme Court has also adjourned the Cipher appeal case without any proceeding.

According to the prosecutor, we have not submitted a detailed verdict in this case and asked for more time.

At this point, Barrister Salman Safdar came to the rostrum, upon which Justice Hashim Kakar inquired about what he was doing.

Barrister Salman Safdar stated that he was present in court but had not received notice in this case.

Justice Hashim Kakar remarked that if he wished, the court could issue him a notice, but it had not yet been decided whether the appeal was maintainable or not.

Later, the court granted time to submit the detailed judgment and adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court of Pakistan is hearing the cases of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Cases in SC

As per details, the top court had announced Imran Khan’s six cases will be heard on February 18 (today), along with the cases of Bushra Bibi and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

A three-member bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar, will hear the cases. The bench will also include Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim.

The cases scheduled for February 18 include pleas against the Islamabad High Court’s decision to suspend the sentence in the Toshakhana criminal case, as well as appeals filed by the Punjab government challenging the bail of PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
