The government is planning a proposal aimed at reducing federal costs by implementing a work-from-home model for federal offices located in Punjab.
As part of this initiative, employees would be required to attend the office only two days a week, while they would work remotely for the remaining days.
The workforce would be split into two groups, with each group attending the office on alternate days in a rotational manner.
According to the proposal, 50 percent of the employees would be present in the offices during the initial two days of the week, while the remaining half would come in on the subsequent two days and work from home for the rest of the week.
The proposal additionally recommends the closure of government offices on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, thereby instituting a four-day workweek.
According to sources, the intention behind this proposal is to decrease government spending, save energy, and enhance efficiency.
