Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday inaugurated Pakistan’s first ever e-Taxi scheme in Punjab.
During inauguration ceremony of e-Taxi scheme she distributed keys among successful women candidates in under the e-Taxi Scheme reaffirming her government commitment towards women’s economic empowerment in Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion Maryam Nawaz said that she was grateful to Allah Almighty for the successful launching of the e-Taxi Scheme saying it was a dignified and sustainable scheme of employment, and also a way to say respect to the people of Pakistan.
“The e-Taxi Scheme is a respectable livelihood project and an important one that will contribute to providing employment opportunities to women,” she said.
Emphasizing on women’s safety and confidence the Chief Minister said women in Punjab have no reason to be fearful of anyone.
She said that the scheme will make important contributions toward women’s financial independence and inclusion in the workforce marking an important step toward inclusive development in the province.
Addressing a public gathering the Chief Minister said that there are extensive efforts to provide women employment opportunity in Punjab. “The opportunities that had previously been closed to women in terms of employment were finally open to them,” she said, stressing upon gender equality in workforce.
Maryam Nawaz also announced massive developments in public transport sector saying that Green Buses will be introduced in each tehsil of the province. She added that work on the Gujranwala Metro project is underway at a fast pace.
Highlighting the future plans the Chief Minister unveiled that a trackless train system would also be launched for Lahore for further improvement of urban mobility.
She described Green Bus project as a super hit saying it has become a model for whole country.
