Punjab libraries to install advanced firewall systems for cybersecurity

The Punjab government has approved the implementation of firewall systems in state-operated libraries to improve cybersecurity and limit access to non-educational websites.

As part of this new initiative, library patrons will be allowed to access only academic and research-related materials, while advanced firewall technology will provide a safe and secure digital environment for all students.

The new project which includes 14 public libraries throughout Punjab, has been estimated to cost Rs50 million.

All necessary approvals from the appropriate authorities have been secured, and efforts to strengthen the libraries’ IT infrastructure are being carried out in a timely manner.

It is important to note that the firewall system will prevent access to inappropriate and non-essential content, thereby ensuring that library networks remain safe and effective for educational use.
