New Year's Eve: Punjab Police on high alert to maintain law and order

WEB DESK: As the New Year has finally arrived, its celebrations are at their peak. People are enjoying New Year’s Eve by celebrating and gathering at different places in their locales.

By keeping in view the situation of law and order, the Punjab Police have been placed on high alert.

IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has directed the Punjab Police officials to enhance the security arrangements, including in the provincial capital Lahore.

According to the media reports, more than 25,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed across the province. The force comprises 419 inspectors, 1,267 sub-inspectors, 2,189 assistant sub-inspectors, 1,408 head constables, 16,977 constables, and other personnel.

Lahore alone will be containing over 5,000 officers and personnel to perform their duties.

Each and every movement will be monitored through CCTV cameras.

The IG Punjab strictly directed the Police Officers of their concerned Districts to keep a close eye on the anti-state elements.

He added that illegal activities like one-wheeling, aerial firing, and hooliganism will not be tolerated at any cost. Anyone involved in the cases of harassment of women or citizens will be arrested immediately and sent to jail.

He also ordered to make foolproof traffic arrangements and to increase patrolling on roads and highways.

The IG Punjab has personally asked CCPO Lahore, RPOs and DPOs to closely observe the security measures.

Citizens are instructed to report any such illegal activity immediately at 15.
