Web desk: Authorities in Lahore have launched a new technological initiative to improve public safety. It will allow citizens to connect their mobile phone cameras directly to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) control room during emergencies.
The move is already being hailed as revolutionary by officials. It aims to speed up emergency response by enabling real-time video sharing from the scene of incidents.

The ‘Connect to PSCA’ feature has been added to the Safe City public safety mobile app.
Through this feature, users can stream live video directly to PSCA. It will help the authorities assess the situation quickly and dispatch help more effectively.
A PSCA spokesperson explained that when someone calls the emergency helpline 15, the Safe City officer will send a live-feed link to the caller’s phone.
Once opened, the caller’s camera will stream live to the control room, allowing officials to monitor the scene and respond promptly based on the footage.
Authorities emphasised that this service is strictly for emergencies. The public is advised not to misuse the feature or send unnecessary videos.
Users are also encouraged to keep their mobile location enabled to help officials locate incidents accurately.
Officials said the new system is designed for faster intervention, better coordination, and improved situational awareness during crises.
This feature can be seen as a major milestone. “This feature is not available even in developed countries. Punjab leading the way,” says CM Maryum Nawaz.

This milestone development will advance public safety, enhance citizen participation, and ensure greater protection for vulnerable populations, particularly women and children.”
