In government run schools the new academic year has officially begun throughout Punjab.
Key measures have been outlined by the authorities which are aimed at easing institutional costs and supporting students.
According to the updated plan, distribution of a large number of free textbooks will also be moving forward.
During the current academic year nearly 30 million books are expected to be provided to students.
This will ensure that all students have uninterrupted access to learning materials.
Completely free of cost textbooks will be received by children in early grades particularly from grades one to three.
A majority of textbooks will be provided free for grades four and five students.
When it comes to grades six to nine, the middle school students will have a portion of their books supplied at no cost.
The students in Grade 10 will continue to receive books free of cost.
To further support the students, a book bank system has been planned by the authorities to support the remaining students. This will ensure availability of required course for all.
Other than student-focused initiatives, it is also being considered by the provincial government to reduce commercial electricity tariffs for government schools.
The purpose of this move is to lower operational expenses and provide financial relief to educational institutions across Punjab.
