Punjab govt approves reconstruction of 4 THQ hospitals

The Punjab government has approved the reconstruction of four Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospitals located in the Sargodha district and has set aside funds amounting to Rs1.25 billion, following the persistent efforts and effective coordination of Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry.

The Department of Health and Population Welfare Punjab has also issued an official notification regarding this matter, as stated in a handout released here on Thursday.

The hospitals that have received approval include THQ Hospital 90 North, THQ Hospital 46 South, THQ Hospital Bhagtanwala, and THQ Hospital Sahiwal.

Officials have said that the Deputy Commissioner took serious notice of the declining condition of these hospitals, the lack of essential facilities, and the challenges faced by the public during his field inspections.

Later, he recommended the allocation of special funds to the Punjab government for their reconstruction and improvement, which resulted in the approval of these projects.

During the event, the Deputy Commissioner mentioned that improving public healthcare facilities is the first priority of the district administration and that the upgrading of these hospitals will guarantee the delivery of quality healthcare services to the community at their doorstep.

He also expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Secretary of Health and Population Welfare Nadia Saqib for their support and guidance.

The Deputy Commissioner further commented that under the leadership of the Punjab government, tangible measures are being implemented for public welfare, the improvement of the healthcare system, and the provision of fundamental facilities, the positive outcomes of which are now becoming apparent.
