Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has announced that cancer patients in Multan will receive free treatment following the expansion of the facility from Lahore to the city.
In a statement, Bukhari said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had inaugurated the Coblation and Cancer Centre in Multan. She said the centre would provide free treatment to cancer patients at all stages.
Bukhari said patients would not have to wait for long periods to receive treatment. She added that doctors would complete the treatment process within 60 minutes.
The minister called the new facility an important step in improving healthcare services across Punjab.
She also said the government had completed work on the 1,000-bed Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital in Lahore. According to Bukhari, the hospital offers modern healthcare facilities and would become an important landmark for Pakistan’s healthcare sector.
Turning to politics, Bukhari said Maryam Nawaz faced no competition from any other provincial government. She claimed that political opponents who could not challenge the Punjab government’s performance were using personal criticism to divert public attention.
She said some political figures had built their politics around Maryam Nawaz, while the Punjab government was focused on developing the province and improving public services.
Commenting on the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bukhari criticised the provincial government and accused its leadership of trying to confront the federal government despite facing challenges within the province.
She also referred to the May 9 and November 26 protests, saying they had created difficulties for the PTI founder. Bukhari alleged that the party was planning another protest movement for September 27.
She urged parents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to prevent their children from becoming involved in political protests. Bukhari claimed that the PTI founder’s children were living in London while young people in KP were being encouraged to participate in political activities.
