QUETTA: As winter is intensifying, so is the weather in Balochistan. A new spell of rain and snowfall is expected to start in Balochistan from today.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) Balochistan has completed all the necessary preparations in order to tackle the emergency situation.
General Manager NHA, while holding a press conference in Quetta, told the media that according to the Meteorological Department, a new system of rain and snowfall has entered Balochistan.
Starting today, many districts of Balochistan will witness rain and snowfall.
Every year, Balochistan experiences snowfall in Quetta-Chaman, Kutchlak-Muslim Bagh, Kalat-Quetta, Mach-Quetta, and Lak Pass-Kanik sections.
18 rescue camps have been installed by the NHA in all these sections along with the heavy machinery to remove snow from the road, to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
The General Manager further explained that machinery is present at the scene and will be in motion 24/7.
Moreover, salt is also being sprinkled constantly on the road to avoid slipping.
It is in the public’s interest to avoid rash driving and to remain alert in order to prevent any incident.
While travelling at night, drivers should use headlights and maintain a low speed.
