Weather outlook for Islamabad, other cities

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in Islamabad and the rest of the country in the next 24 hours.

According to the department, the weather in the federal capital is likely to be partly cloudy with chances of rain at some places during the night.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, skies will probably remain cloudy while various districts of the region can receive precipitation.

Rain is expected from Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kurram, Khyber, Mohmand, Mansehra and Abbottabad.

Meanwhile, most parts of Punjab are likely to be dry and warm in its day time.

However, light rain could occur at night in Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree and Galiyat.

In Sindh, most of the districts are predicted to be dry and warm all day. Conditions for Balochistan are also due to remain mostly dry except for northern districts where it may be partly cloudy.

In other news several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were shaken by strong tremors of earth quakes on Saturday but no human casualties or damage were reported.

According to the Seismological Centre, this earthquake registered 5.3 on the Richter scale, and the depth within the earth was 216 kilometres.

The epicentre was in the Hindu Kush Mountain range.

Tremors were felt in Malakand, Shangla and Buner and residents rushed out of their homes while reciting prayers.

Authorities said no loss of life and property have been reported so far.

Another earthquake was also felt in Islamabad and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Attock and Swabi.

According to the Seismological Centre that quake measured 4.4 on the Richter scale with a depth of 14 kilometres.

Officials said that the epicentre was traced and it was about 11 kilometres to the northeast of Burhan area in the district of Attock.

No immediate news of any casualties and damage to property came in. The tremors came a day after a stronger earthquake struck the parts of the region.
