The NDMA has issued a rain and snowfall alert for Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NDMA), thunderstorms are likely in various areas over the next 12 to 24 hours.

Rain accompanied by snowfall is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, where roads in mountainous regions may be affected. Areas including Astore, Skardu, Hunza, and Neelum Valley are likely to experience rain and snowfall.

In Balochistan, rain and hailstorms are expected in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, and Gwadar.

Meanwhile, rain is also forecast in several cities, including Islamabad and major cities of Punjab such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan. Authorities have warned that waterlogging in low-lying areas may disrupt traffic flow.

Earlier today, Light to moderate rain hit Islamabad and Rawalpindi, turning the weather chilly in both cities.

The rain started at 05:00 am on March 18 (today). Clouds have been present over the twin cities since last night, and intermittent rainfall has further helped in easing the weather conditions.

Previously, the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted rain with heavy winds and thunderstorms in several cities of the country.

The Meteorological Department further said another westerly system is likely to move in the western regions of the country on the night of March 17, which will also cause another spell of rainfall.
