WEB DESK: Iran has recently undergone a spectacular change on the Hormuz Island. The place was struck by torrential rain that made the well-known beaches a blood-red colour.
Accordingly, social media was overwhelmed with viral videos of the crimson waves.
The region is referred to as Rainbow Island because of the geology. Particularly, the soil is rich in iron oxide. This red earth, when the intensive rainfall reaches the earth, is carried into the sea.
Thus, the water transforms to a bright and solid scarlet.
Although the view was ominous, scientists offered a straightforward explanation. They affirmed that it is a natural chemical reaction of the blood-red water.
Basically, the rain collects the pigment in the volcanic soil and transports it to the shore. Due to this reason, the whole coastline seems to be painted.
This is something that is known by the locals. As a matter of fact, they apply the red soil in cosmetics and industrial paints.
To conclude, the red rain of Hormuz is a masterpiece of the beautiful nature. Nature keeps surprising us with its vivid colours.
